History of HKBP Montclair Lutheran Church Colorado
By the February 14th 1999’s the 1st worship in the house of HKBP member had gained sufficient enough numbers as to encourage the formation and support of independent institutions that provided HKBP living in Denver area with the opportunity to give greater meaning to their lives. It was 22 adult members, 10 kids, and 3 Sintua from HKBP California. By April 14th 1999 was the first official Sunday Worship for HKBP Colorado at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (Missoury Synod Member) 12150 E. Andrews Drive, Denver CO 80239 with Preachers were Pastor Edwin Sianipar STh, St. DJ Parapat, and Pastor Kristiani Suwito STh. By August 15th 1999, HKBP Colorado was officially part of HKBP that had a Head Office at Pearaja, Tarutung, Indonesia, and registered by SK No.186/L.08/II/2000, on August 15th 2000.
With membership of 71 adults and 11 kids, they agreed to have August 15th as HKBP Colorado’s Anniversary. By May 30th2000, HKBP Colorado registered to State of Colorado-Department of State Certificate as Non Profit Corporation with File No.20001107596. In the Convention of Interchange, on May 9th 2000, Ephorus HKBP Pastor DR. J.R. Hutauruk and ELCA Leader in Chicago, they agreed that 3HKBP churches in USA were officially member of ELCA. On December 31st 2001, Rocky Mountain Synod ELCA Leader and HKBP Colorado members served Old and New Worship and the 1st worship at Montclair Lutheran Church, 1401 Poplar St. Denver CO 80220. By February 1st 2002, Department of Treasury, IRS issued Employer Identification Number (EIN) No. 84-1528953 for HKBP Colorado.
By August 5th 2002, Secretary of State Colorado, Department of State Certificate agreed to change the name from HKBP Colorado to HKBP Lutheran Church Colorado as Colorado Non-Profit Corporation. On Sunday, December 28th 2003, Praise God for His wonderful wisdom, the building and all equipments were donated to HKBP Lutheran Church Colorado.” A Savior has been Born to You” was the theme for Sunday Service by Bishop Rev. Allan Bjomberg (Rocky Mountain Synod ELCA Leader). Several people from different background were attended on this meeting.
As a thanksgiving from HKBP member, we gave an Ulos Batak to Montclair Church Member including Bishop Rev. Allan Bjomberg, Rev. Jim Hytjan (Bishop Assisstant), Rev. Virginia(Pastor Montclair Lutheran Church), Father Dough Dunn(Pastor St.Luke’s Episkopal Church and Oikumene Churches Leader). On that day, HKBP Lutheran Church Colorado was officially registered as Oikumene member. At last, Montclair Church member requested to put Montclair on HKBP Lutheran Church Colorado. Then our church name was HKBP Montclair Lutheran Church Colorado.
